Epic Beacon to Cold Spring Hike

if i read the map correctly, this is Lake Surprise

i saw a wolf, but it was too quick to get a picture, so i captured this tree instead

the trail was not for the novice hiker. we traversed several more peaks after this 

From the top of Breakneck Ridge you can see there is an island on the Hudson that has an old castle on it.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollepel_Island

As always, its a complete joy to leave the confines of the city and go hiking.
